I had planned on enjoying a day game with one of my best and oldest friends. The bad news is he was feeling under the weather. Feel well amigo! The good news is that I was able to spend the day with my 90 year old dad at the game. The Giants did not win, but it was a heck of a pitching match up between Madison Bumgardner and Gio Gonzalez. Bumgardner highlights HERE. See Pence make a great play HERE. See Posey tie it in the 8th HERE. See a dad holding his son makes a nice grab HERE. See Pence's bat goes flying! Fan returns the bat HERE. Bryce Harper is a heck of a player! HERE. SAN FRANCISCO -- Ryan Vogelsong pitched five shutout innings Monday night but left the game with an fractured right hand, sustained while batting, in the Giants' 8-0 triumph over the Washington Nationals. Vogelsong injured himself in the Giants' half of the fifth as he swung at a fastball from Washington right-hander Craig Stammen that veered inside and struck the unlucky starter on his pitching hand. Manager Bruce Bochy and assistant athletic trainer Mark Gruesbeck briefly examined Vogelsong, who removed the batting glove on his stricken hand. Gruesbeck led Vogelsong from the field, holding the pitcher's right hand carefully in his left. Until that point, it had been a thoroughly encouraging performance for Vogelsong. He entered the game with an 8.06 ERA, the National League's highest figure among pitchers with enough innings to qualify for the ERA title. He allowed three hits and one runner to reach scoring position. Read Full Article HERE Click to enlarge picture It was PIXAR day and there were a few special guest too. We were at that game. During batting practice some of the fans and Dodger players were taunting each other as often happens. At one point Kemp tossed a ball to Rayce. Most other Dodger players would only toss balls on occasion to a fan in Dodger gear. Some even teased tossing a ball to a Giants fan and then didn't. Rayce was clearly decked out in Giants Orange. Kemp would actually wave or speak to people who called his name. Rayce then passed it forward and gave the ball to a little kid that was next to him. The kid was jumping for joy. We commented that we couldn't bring ourselves to boo Kemp after that. Now after seeing this video, I think we actually have to root for Kemp (maybe not when they play the Giants). He seems like a class guy.
Rayce got 2 BP balls & gave 1 to a little kid. Giants ace Matt Cain didn't make much of his first victory this season, even though it completed a series sweep of divisional rival Los Angeles. Ending a two-week drought by San Francisco's starting pitchers meant more to the three-time All-Star. Cain pitched into the eighth inning to end the longest winless-streak of his career, and Hunter Pence accounted for all of the scoring in the Giants 4-3 victory over the Dodgers on Sunday night. SAN FRANCISCO -- Buster Posey may not be a huge fan of Metallica, but he knows a huge hit when he hears one, and the sound of his home run in the ninth inning Friday certainly struck a chord.
Posey hit his first career walk-off home run leading off the bottom of the ninth inning to give the San Francisco Giants a 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Metallica Night at AT&T Park. Posey had two hits and drove in both runs for the Giants, who won their fourth straight. "It was a good feeling," Posey said of his shot. "The game was already way too long for being 1-1. I was enjoying the moment, taking in all the excitement." Posey hit a 3-2 pitch off Ronald Belisaro that landed about 15 rows up in the left-field bleachers. It was his first hit in eight at-bats against the Dodgers right-hander. Belisaro struck him out five times and walked him once. "We don't hit too many of them, but they are coming at a great time," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. "He's a guy you want up there. He ran a deep count and got a pitch he could handle." |
