SAN FRANCISCO -- The Giants and catcher Buster Posey agreed to terms on the most lucrative contract in franchise history on Friday, an eight-year, $167 million extension.

Technically, the contract spans nine years, including this season, which represents the longest deal ever for a catcher. It also ranks second among catchers in total value. Minnesota's Joe Mauer signed an eight-year, $184 million extension in 2010, though his deal did not wipe out any arbitration years. In Giants annals, Posey's contract eclipsed the six-year, $127.5 million deal that right-hander Matt Cain signed last year for the franchise's richest-ever pact.

Come see the Giants hoist the World Series flag and welcome the team back on opening day (Friday April 5th).  As a season ticket holder I had the opportunity to buy extra opening day tickets.  The plan was for my wife and I to sit in our regular seats on the Club Level and our son could invite a friend and sit in the extra seats.  Well plans changed and my wife has to work.  So now my son and I will be the only ones going.

These extra seats are in the View Reserved section 319.  The view is almost directly behind home plate.  The seats are in row 14 and the seats are #7 & 8.  Selling them for less than they cost me including the "convenience fees".    My cost was $360.  Asking $340.

My son and I went to watch Puerto Rico play Japan.  Of course we were cheering for Angel Pagan.
